Alexander Memorial School celebrates 125th Foundation Day

JAMMU, Sept 9: Alexander Memorial School celebrated its 125th Foundation Day “Jashn-e-Buniyad” with great jubilation and fervour in the school premises which was tastefully decorated with multicoloured banners, buntings and balloons. The whole campus wore a festive look and was agog with students, parents, clerics, guests, and well wishers of the school.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest in the morning programme, who was received by the Principal, Esther William in the august presence of Managing Committee Members.
After the customary garlanding and bouquet presentation, the function started with words of prayer by Rev. Udai Singh, Presbyter-in-charge St. Paul’s Church, Residency Road. The school choir presented the welcome song in melodious voice.
After the formal welcome address by the Principal, a Dogri dance and ‘Lavani’, a Marathi dance, were presented by the students of Alexander Memorial School followed by an action song by Jesus Cares Convent School, Paloura.
Rotary Club Jammu also made a presentation. Before the traditional ribbon cutting and releasing of balloons, there was presentation of mementos to the chief guest, the participating schools, Churches, sponsors and organizations.
The school campus turned into a big Fun-Fair (Mela) where several prestigious schools of Jammu, Viz Jodhamal School, Heritage School, Jesus Cares Convent School, Lawrence Public School, J&K Police Public School, Dogra Higher Secondary School, Tiny Tots School and Bethal Living World School put up stalls including food court, beverages, ice cream, music and dance, tambola and several other interesting games. Stalls were also set by Khadi Bandhar, Residency Road, WFCS, CNI, Jammu, Reliance Jio and LG.
There were also joy rides on camels and horses, jhoolas and other computer based games.
While speaking, MLA assured all possible help. MLA was accompanied by Prof Sham, Rajinder Gupta, Ramesh, Rajesh Nischal, Amit Gupta, Vinay Gupta, Santosh, Balbir and Charanjeet.
On the concluding ceremony, MLA Ashok Khajuria was the chief guest, who was welcomed by Principal and the Managing Committee members.
The raffle draw was conducted by MLC in which first prize of LG LED TV was won by Radha Devi (11030), second prize LG washing machine by Vijay Kumar (13292) and third prize of Microwave Oven by Rohit Gupta (13246). Consolation prizes–Avante Induction pressure cooker was won by Vanshika Chib (9784), Avante Sandwich Toaster by Sudanshu Sharma (1972), Avante Electric Kettle by Snigdha Pathania (12914), Hair Straightener by Isha Anna Mary (8748) and Steam Iron by BR (12463).
In the end, Rajni Koul, Senior Teacher of the institution presented vote of thanks.
