Admin committed to develop sports infras: Itoo

Baramulla, Sept 14: Reiterating upon the administration’s commitment to develop sports infrastructure for channelising the potential of our youth, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo said that various initiatives are being taken in this regard.
DC made these remarks during a final cricket match at Seer Jagir Sopore where he was invited as the chief guest. The final match was played between Nowpora 11 and Kashur 11 which was won by Nowpora 11.
DC said that various sports activities are being organised to resume sports culture that were halted due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
The tournament was organised by District Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with district administration Baramulla in which about 32 teams participated.
DC also said that sports has a positive and constructive role in our social and psychological development adding that such events enables our youth to divert their attention towards positive pursuits. He said that there is a need to provide appropriate platforms, so that, the potential of our youth is channelized in a better way
DC distributed various sports items among the teams which was highly appreciated by the people. DC also emphasized that youth empowerment has been our priority and informed that, in the upcoming ‘Back to Village- Phase 3’ special focus shall be given towards redressel of issues and grievances of the youth.
