JAMMU, Jan 19: A powerful message of environmental consciousness and national unity was sent today as Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu Zone, flagged off a team of cyclists embarking on a remarkable 4,080-kilometer journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The expedition, led by Mangal Bhanushali and his four-member team, is designed to raise awareness about the importance of a pollution-free India and inspire the nation’s youth to take action for environmental conservation.
The cycle journey began on January 16 from the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar. After traversing through challenging terrain, the team arrived in Jammu this morning, where they were warmly greeted by local supporters. A formal send-off ceremony was held at the Police GO’s Mess, Gulshan Ground, Gandhi Nagar.
ADGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, praised the cyclists’ commitment and dedication to the cause. “This initiative showcases the power of individual action in driving positive change,” Jain said. “By taking on this physically demanding journey, these cyclists are promoting vital environmental messages and uniting the country with their spirit of adventure and commitment to national unity.”
The team plans to engage with local communities along their route to foster awareness about environmental responsibility. The cyclists’ physical endurance and their message for a cleaner, greener India serve as an inspiration for the youth.
The Jammu Police, under the leadership of senior officers, ensured the safety and smooth passage of the cyclists through the region. The event was attended by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shiv Kumar, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, SP City North, and other senior police officers including SO to ADGP Jammu Zone.
