JAMMU, Feb 8: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, Arun Kumar Choudhary today felicitated mountaineers Nazir Ahmad and Falail Singh of Jammu and Kashmir Police for successfully conquering 8848 meter high Sagarmatha (Mountain Everest) on May 21 last year.
The felicitation ceremony held at Armed Police Headquarters Jammu was attended by all the senior officers of APHQ including Mahmood Ahmad-SSP, Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, Dushyant Sharma-SSP, Staff Officer (Sports) APHQ, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, DySP (Pers) APHQ, Sharat Chander Singh, Inspector Sports and Ram Singh, Inspector, I/C Mountain Rescue Team J&K Police.
The ADGP, while congratulating the officials for their achievement, assured them that the department will provide them all facilities to hone their skills in mountaineering. “The J&K Police Mountaineering Team is imparting mountaineering training to the police personnel at Samba for their use during natural calamities / manmade hazards,” said ADGP.
Everester, Nazir Ahmad belongs to Halmat Pora village of district Kupwara and is presently posted in JKAP 14th Battalion as Selection Grade Constable, whereas Everester, Falail Singh belongs to Kotranka (Kandi) of district Rajouri and is presently posted in IRP 1st Battalion as Selection Grade Constable. Both of these officials are the members of Mountain Rescue Team of J&K Police.
