JAMMU, Jan 9: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, J&K SM Sahai today felicitated J&K Police sports personnel for their excellent performance during the year 2013.
The function to felicitate the outstanding performers of the J&K Police was organized at Armed Police Headquarters, here.
Expressing happiness over the impressive performance of Jammu and Kashmir Police teams at State, National and International Level, Mr Sahai assured the sports persons that their necessary requirements in terms of infrastructure, equipment and diet supplements would be facilitated to them on priority.
He said that the ultimate goal of J&K Police is to achieve proficiency in different sports so that they are able to bring laurels not only for the department, but for State and Nation as well.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jammu and Kashmir Police bagged 15 gold, 10 silver and 28 bronze medals in different sports events during the year 2013. Sgct Parvez Ahmad and Sgct Zahoor Ahmad of police water sports team were felicitated for winning gold medals in Kayaking and Canoeing events in the All India Police games held at Bhopal.
The Pugilists and wrestlers also brought laurels by clinching 1 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronze medals in 62nd All India Police wrestling cluster 2013. The medalists in Women Sgct included Khalida Bano (gold), w/ct Asha Jamwal (silver), w/ct Rajni Kumari (bronze), W/ct Stanzin (bronze), Ct Ravinder Bhushan (bronze), Benia Amin (bronze), Roshan (bronze).
SI Rashid also bagged a gold medal for the department in 24th Senior National Fencing Championship and 5th Fencing Federation Cup held at Patiala Punjab.
The function among others was attended by IG AP/IR Jammu Zone PR Manhas, DIG IR Jammu, Vijay Singh Samyal, DIG Armed Range Jammu, K L Bhagat, CO JKAP 14th Battalion, Dr Sanjogita Sudan, Sports Medicine Specialist APHQ and Sports Officer APHQ Inspector Kuldeep Handoo, Coaches Satyakam Sharma, Om Prakash Sharma and Farooq Ahmad Bhat.
