Ace cricket coach Roopali qualifies BCCI-CA Level-B Course

JAMMU, Apr 1: J&K’s ace woman cricketer and coach, Roopali Slathia has become the first woman cricket coach of Jammu and Kashmir State to successfully complete Re Level-B course, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in collaboration with Cricket Australia (CA) for Level-B coaches of India at NCA, Bangalore.
The Course is equivalent to the Australian Level-2 Course that has got an international accreditation.
Top cricketing nations including South Africa, Australia, England, New Zealand and India are part of this scheme of things to produce quality coaches and promote cricket in nooks and corners.
Talking to EXCELSIOR, Roopali said that this course has been her best achievement in terms of knowledge as she got an opportunity to train herself under International faculty from Australia, headed by Paul Montenary from Cricket Australia.
She said that the Course also provided her opportunity to meet former Indian Test Stars like WV Raman, Narendra Hirwani etc.
It is pertinent to mention here that Roopali successfully did her Level-B in the year 2011 at RCA, Jaipur and then went for refresher course at NCA, Bangalore in 2013.
She started her cricketing career at the age of 15 years as top order batswoman, who later-on turned into an all-rounder.
She has the distinction of playing Junior and Senior State, Senior Zone and National Level Cricket Tournament many a time, besides having the honour of producing a galaxy of budding cricketers with her superb coaching skills.
During her Level-B course from NCA, Bangalore, she was the only female intern out of the chosen top four coaches for the National level camp.
The Lecturer in Physical Education in the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Roopali said, “Jammu and Kashmir has got tremendous potential to blossom at the national and international scene, but needs better infrastructural facilities”.
Roopali aims at producing and nurturing more and more budding female cricketers from the State and make them sparkle at the International Level.
