Abrar excels in 32nd North Zone Athletic C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 26: Young Athlete of Jammu and Kashmir, Abrar Choudhary brought laurels to the Union Territory by winning Gold and Silver medals in 400 and 200 meters categories respectively in recently concluded North Zone Athletic Championship at Meerut Uttar Pradesh from March 20 to 22.
“Abrar Choudhary is fourth semester student of Govt Degree College Kunjwani, spotted by former Athlete and DYSS Lecturer, Nirmal Singh and groomed by J&K Sports Council Coach, Gurcharan Singh and former SAI Coach, Ramesh Sharma at University of Jammu Grounds,” claimed general secretary JKOA, Sharat Chander Singh.
On his return from Meerut, Abrar was given worm welcome by president of J&K Olympic Association (JKOA), Dr Ashutosh Sharma in the presence of members of J&K Amateur Athletic Association and former Athletes.
“Abrar has really made us feel proud of his achievements, especially when we don’t have the required infrastructure and encouragement from the Government,” said Dr Ashutosh Sharma.
SS Gill, general secretary JKOA, Om Parkash Sharma, Tejinder Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Gurcharan Singh and Ravi Salgotra were also present during the event.
