PTS Kathua, KCC Jammu register resounding wins; advance to next stage

KATHUA, Apr 11: PTS Kathua and KCC Jammu registered resounding wins in their respective matches and advanced to the next stage of the ongoing Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Tawi Organizing Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sports stadium here today.
In the first match, PTS Kathua registered 22 runs victory over Kathua Stadium Juniors in a nail biting match.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, PTS Kathua scored 136 runs for all out in allotted 20 overs. Yasir was the top scorer with 50 runs in 36 balls including four lofty sixes, while Rampy also chipped in 38 runs with the help of seven balls towards the fence. Nadeem also contributed 20 runs including 2 boundaries.
For Kathua Stadium Juniors side, Rajesh was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 3 wickets by conceding 30 runs in his 4 overs spell, while Nikhil also scalped 2 wickets.
While batting, Kathua Stadium Juniors failed to chase the target and bundled out at 114 runs for all out in 18 overs. Manu played well and chipped in 46 runs with the help of three boundaries and one six, while Sandeep and Nikhil also contributed 27 and 10 runs respectively.
For PTS Kathua, Anshuman was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets, while Ashwani scalped 2 wickets.
Yasir of PTS Kathua was declared as man of the match and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 500 and a trophy.
In the second match, 5 wickets haul by Raman Dutta guided KCC Jammu to register victory over RCC Udhampur.
Batting first, after winning the toss, KCC Jammu chipped in 142 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Raman Thaploo was the top scorer with 31 runs including three balls towards the fence and one ball over the fence, while Shashi and Dhruv Mahajan also contributed 18 and 16 runs respectively.
For RCC Udhampur, Sunny and Sunil Sharma proved their worth and took 2 wickets each.
While batting, RCC Udhampur tried their level best to clinch the match, but failed and bundled out at 106 runs for all out in allotted 20 overs. Farooq was the top scorer with 40 runs including four boundaries and one six, while Sushil also chipped in 13 runs including one ball towards the fence.
For KCC Udhampur side, Raman Dutta scalped 5 wickets by conceding just 15 runs in his 4 overs spell, while Akash Choudhary also took 2 wickets.
Raman Dutta of KCC Jammu was declared as man of the match and was awarded with a trophy and a cash prize.
The matches were officiated by Mohan Lal, Ram, Anoop Sharma and Prabhat Singh as umpires, while Ashwani maintained the scoreboards.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Stadium XI will clash with Kashmir Cricket Club (KCC) Jammu in the first match, while Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) will take on Wizard Cricket Club (WCC) in the second match.
