
*Tops batting averages list in prestigious tournament

JAMMU, Mar 5: Top century maker for Jammu and Kashmir in First Class cricket, Ian Dev Singh Chauhan, sparkled in Sri Lanka Domestic Cricket while representing Kandy Customs Cricket Club in the prestigious Premier League Tournament Tier B, being played in Sri Lanka.
Ian scored magnificent 154 not out against Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club by facing 199 balls, studded with 19 fours and 2 sixes. Ian top scored for Kandy Customs Cricket Club, while K Silva (41), L Nimsara (35) and AA Inham (28) were the other contributors in a big total of 309/7d.
Earlier, Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club was bundled out for 264 runs in the first innings and were 24/0 in the second essay.
The prolific run-scorer for Jammu and Kashmir at the Ranji Trophy circuit, Ian Dev Singh has so far scored 274 runs in the six innings of the four matches played in this Sri Lankan mega cricket league, averaging 68.50.
Ian is topping the batting averages list, with CG Vijesinghe (56.33) and AA Inham (40.33) following him at number-2 and number-3 spots respectively.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ian has the distinction of scoring 14 First Class centuries and 18 half-centuries while representing J&K in Ranji Trophy. He has also the honour of representing Under-19 India team in Commonwealth Cricket Championship in the year 2005.
However, he was not picked in the Ranji Trophy squad this season for the reasons better known to Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), which had forced him to join cricket league in Sri Lanka.
