JAMMU, Sept 20: Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu flagged off J&K Blind Cricket players to represent India in International Tri-Series in an impressive function held at Zonal Police Headquarters, here.
The two J&K Blind cricketers namely Rohit Kumar Sharma from Jammu (RS Pura) and Irfan Ahmad Mir from Kashmir, will represent Indian team for International Tri-Series for Blind Cricketers to be held from October 2 to October 13, 2018 at Bangalore and Goa.
The participating teams include India, Sri Lanka and England.
Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer apprised the IGP Jammu that during the last two years number of cricket events and coaching camps were organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu at MA Stadium Jammu in order to provide practice matches at MA Stadium, Jammu.
“These events were attended by the players from Anantnag, Shopian, Srinagar, Jammu, Bhaderwah, Reasi, Mahore, Kathua and Samba. The J&K Blind cricket team was also sent to different states for their participation in the inter-state national matches by the Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu conveyed best wishes to the players and said that their selection makes them to feel ecstatic.
He also appreciated Rajesh Sharma, SSP and Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer for their efforts in promoting Blind Cricketers.
IGP also assured all help to the J&K Blind cricketers in future.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Kulbir Singh SSP PCR Jammu, Surjeet Singh and Ajay Thakur Senior Cricketers of J&K Blind Cricket team.
