GDC Udhampur, ASCOMS Jammu win titles

JAMMU, Sept 11: In the finals of the Inter-Collegiate Badminton Tournament, organized by the Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at the Gymnasium Hall, GDC Udhampur and ASCOMS Jammu teams lifted the men and women titles in the Badminton Championships respectively.
Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of  Jammu was the  chief guest on the occasion, who distributed the trophies among the winners.
Detailed results:
Women finals: ASCOMS beat GCW Gandhi Nagar by 2-1. 1st Singles: Akansha Sharma drubbed Mitali Manhas  by ( 21-17, 21-19). Doubles: Akansha and Aryushi lost to Mitali and Raghvi by 15-21,  17-21.
2nd Singles: Ritvika beat Raghvi Wazir by 21-18, 12-21, 21-9.
Men’S finals: GDC Udhampur beat  MAM College  by 3-0; 1st Singles: Dhananjay Sharma outplayed Bashir Ahmed (21-15, 21-11); 2nd Singles: Harsh Mahajan prevailed over Mayank Kashyap (21-14, 21-16). Doubles: Dhananjoy and  Harsh beat  Bashir and  Mayank by (21-7, 13-21, 21-13).
The final matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Manmohan Sharma, Pushap Thakur and Ankit Sharma.
Meanwhile, on the first day of  the Inter-Collegiate Fencing Championship organized  by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of  Jammu at  the Gymnasium Hall, in Epee  Individual boys, Shubam Sharma of  SPMR College of  Commerce bagged gold, while
In Foil Individual boys, Aanish Kumar of  MIET
Clinched gold and in Sabre  Individual boys, Adhirath Kesar of MIET won gold.
Chotu Lal Sharma , Rachna Jamwal , Ujwal Gupta and Ajay Khartol were the officials.
In Inter Collegiate  Football (Men) Tournament 2017-18, GDC Samba beat  GDC Kishtwar by  6-0 goals; GDC Poonch trounced Bhargava Degree College  by  5-0 goals; Govt MAM College  defeated Bhargava Engineering College by 2-0 goals and YCET Jammu outplayed KC Law School Jammu by a solitary goal.
Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Tarn Pal Singh, Vijay Kumar and  Gagan Kumar officiated  the matches.
