JAMMU, Sept 5: Vying for the top honours, the participating shuttlers showed class and composure on Day-2 of the ongoing Inter Collegiate Badminton (M&W) 2017-18 Championship at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
In Women’s Section, GCW Gandhi Nagar beat GCW Kathua by 2-0; GCW Udhampur defeated GDC Kathua by 2-1; GCET drubbed GDC Akhnoor by 2-1 and PG Department prevailed over GDC Reasi by 2-0, while in Men’s Section, GDC Nowshera outplayed GDC Ram Nagar by 3-2; GDC Akhnoor beat Trikuta Degree College by 3-1; GDC Rajouri trounced GDC Paloura 3-1 and YCET got walkover from GDC Doda.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The matches were officiated by RavishVaid, Rakesh Kumar, Pushap Thakur, Taranpal Singh, Manmohan Sharma and Ankit Sharma.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Kho-Kho, GCW Parade beat GDC Samba by 2 points (05-03); GDC Kathua thrashed GDC Hiranagar by 13 points(16-03) and GCW Kathua outplayed GDC Mendhar by 7 points(07- nil), while in Men’s Section, GDC Akhnoor drubbed SPMR Commerce College by 4 points (09-05); GDC Rajouri got better of GDC Hiranagar by 3 points (14-11); GDC Samba beat GGM Science College by 19 points (27-08) and DDC Kathua beat PG Department by 3 points (14-11).
The match officials were Dheeraj Sharma, Ajit Singh, Anil Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Palbinder Singh, Pooja, Shivali, Kamaljeet Kourand Gagan Kumar.
