State Winter Games begin at Gulmarg

GULMARG, Apr 2: The State Winter Games-2017 got underway, here today.
MLA Gulmarg and President Winter Games Association of J&K, Mohammad Abass Wani opened the Games at picturesque Kongdori among scores of enthusiasts, athletes and tourists.
In three day long Games the competitions will be held in three main disciplines of snow sports like Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing and Snowboarding. Nearly 125 boys and girls of different age groups are competing in the events of Slalom and Giant Slalom. The Games are held under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council and is supported by Tourism Department, J&K Cable Car Corporation and High Altitude Warfare School as well.
On the inaugural day the competitions in Giant Slalom of all events were held and the results were declared.
In Alpine Ski Seniors (Men), the fist position went to Fayaz Ahmad Hajam, the second place went to Bilal Ahmad Sheikh and the third position was claimed by Mudasir Ahmad Bhat.
In Snowboarding (Seniors), Firdous Ahmad Sheikh bagged first place, the second spot was claimed by Mohammad Abass Rather and the third position was bagged by Raja Waseem.
In Snowboarding (Junior), first position was won by Mehraj-ud-Din Khan, the second position went to Zubair Ahmad Lone and the third position was bagged by Rayees Bakshi.
In Junior Alpine Boys (1996-98), the first position was bagged by Jehangir Ahmad Ganai, second position went to Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat and the third position was claimed by Hamiz Qadri.
In Alpine Ski girls (1996-98), Sabia Nabi emerged first, the second position was bagged by Zainab Rashid and the third position was bagged by Shabista Shabir.
In Alpine Ski Boys (1999-2000), First : Younis Mohammad Dar; Second : Syed Wilayat; Third: Mohammad Shahdad.
In Junior Alpine Girls (Born 1999-2000), first position: Tanzeel Wani; Second Position: Sana Afzal Mir and Third: Nowsheen Bilal.
In Junior Alpine Boys (Born 2001-02), First Position: Sheikh Sajid; Second Position: Haseeb Sadaat and Third Position: Haadi Irfan.
In Junior Alpine Girls (Born 2001-02), First Position: Zaara Hashim; Second Position: Shemail and Third Position: Asfa Qureshi.
Junior Alpine Boys (Born 2003-04), First Position: Shoaib Malik; Second Position: Azhar Hussain Mir and Third Position: Saif ul Bari.
In Junior Alpine Girls (Born 2003-04), First Position: Rubaab Ali Punjabi; Second Position:  Mehnoor Jan and Third Position: Sehreen Hassan.
In Nordic (Men) 5 Kms: First Position: Momammad Abid; Second Position: Hilal Ahmed and Third Position: Mohammad Ashraf.
