JU drubs Pune University by 40 runs

LUDHIANA, Nov 9: University of Jammu in its first league match convincingly defeated Pune University by 40 runs in the ongoing  14TH All India Vice-Chancellors T20 Cricket Cup at Ludhiana, today.
Batting first, JU scored 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Niranjan Singh scored brilliant 74 runs, while Summit and Rajesh Salhotra contributed 25 and 20 runs respectively. For Pune University Manish took 3 wickets, while Sunil claimed1 wicket.
While chasing 159 runs, Pune University could manage to score 119 runs only for the loss of 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 40 runs. For JU Captain Ameet Targotra was the wrecker-in-chief who took 3wickets, while Dauood Iqbal, Pawan Singh and Rajesh claimed 2, 2 and 1 wicket respectively. Niranjan Singh was adjudged as man of the match for his outstanding 74 runs.
Jammu University Management and coach congratulated the team for its first convincing win over Pune University.
University of Jammu will meet G.B. Pant University, Uttarakhand in its next encounter tomorrow.
