UDHAMPUR, Sept 17: In collaboration with State Council of Science and Technology Udhampur, the Department of Botany, Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur organized an inter-college symposium on ‘Ozone Layer Depletion, Present Status and its Impact with Special Reference to India’ in the College Conference Hall, here today.
Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SSP Udhampur was the chief guest on this occasion, who while speaking appreciated the efforts of the organizers to organize such activities which help spread awareness among the masses and said that schools and colleges are best possible platform for dissemination of information.
Earlier, the programme began with lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. Principal of the College Dr Nutan Kumar Resutra presented welcome address and said, that the college envisions to keep up the efforts for spreading environmental awareness to grow in our students an eco-consciousness. Sanjay Kharoo, District Coordinator DST Udhampur outlined the detail of such awareness activities being organized by his department to develop scientific temper among the youth.GDC Kathua clinched the first, Ishtiaq Ahmed from MAM College Jammu got the second whereas Pankaj Sharma from GDC Udhampur claimed the third position. Taniya Kapoor of GDC Samba and Sahil Mehta of MAM College Jammu were given consolation prizes. Dr Bharat Bhushan Dy Registrar SKUAST, Dr Arun Gupta from GCW Udhampur and Dr Udhey Bhanu HoD Mathematics, GDC Udhampur comprised the Jury.
