Kathua, Oct 23: BL Gupta, Principal, Govt. Degree College (Boys) Kathua felicitated Atika Sharma, a student of B Sc part-III who brought laurels to the College by clinching second position in the Preliminary round of the 6th Annual Inter-collegiate (Northern Zone) Declamation Contest held at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, recently.
He spot was fixed among the six students selected for the final round of the contest.
Atika presented her views on the topic “Is development and growth enough to reduce discontent in society?” and was appreciated by the audience and applauded by the dignitaries Kavinder Gupta, Speaker, State Legislative Assembly, J&K Government who was the chief guest, S. Daleep Singh, Former Commissioner/Secretary, Transport and Prof. Nalini Kohli, Former Director Colleges, Higher Education.
30 students of different Degree Colleges of Jammu Province participated and presented views on reducing discontent emanating in the masses. Prof. Surinder Gupta, Former Dean & Prof. Medicine, SKAUST, R.S.Pura Campus, Prof. Monika Sethi, Department of English, University of Jammu & Prof. Rita Munshi, Former Principal were the adjudicators to evaluate the performance of the participants.
