Cycling extravaganza ‘Pedal for Kashmir’ on May 31

SRINAGAR, May 29: Over 2000 cyclists from across the State of Jammu and Kashmir including 1050 participants from J&K Cycling Association, besides 50 International and National players from other States of the Country will display their skill in the Cycle Race ‘Pedal for Kashmir’ at Srinagar on May 31, 2015. Four participants who have recently participated in Commonwealth Games will also take part in the event.
This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Police (Armed) J&K, SM Sahai while addressing media persons here today.
He said the participants include players from Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Karnataka, Cycling Federation of India and National Campers of Cycling Federation of India.
Mr Sahai said that aim of organizing such sporting event in the all parts of the State under its Civil Action Programme is to promote the sports culture in the State and identify the talented sportspersons, besides providing opportunity to the youths of the state to enable them to prepare themselves in National/ International level sporting events.
He said, adequate arrangements have been made at the venue and en-route with sufficient number of water sponges, tables, medical aid and ambulances, adding the rules and regulations for the event will be as per the guidelines of Cycling Federation of India.
The categories of the participants include Senior category, Jr Category under-19 (Male), Jr. category under-19 (Female), Sub-Jr category under-12 (Boys) and Sub-Jr. category under-12 (Girls).
Giving details of the prizes, Mr Sahai disclosed that first five position holders amongst senior participants will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and  Rs 10,000 respectively, while the first five position holders amongst the participants from Jr. category under-19 (Male) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10, 000 respectively.
Similarly, the first five position holders amongst the participants from Jr. Category under-19 (Female) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.30,000, Rs.25,000, Rs.20,000, Rs.15,000 and Rs10,000 respectively.
Mr Sahai further said, the first 10 position holders amongst the participants from Sub-Jr. category under-12 (Boys) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.25, 000, Rs.20,000, Rs.15,000, RS 12,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500, Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500 respectively, while the first 10 position holders amongst the participants from Sub-Jr. category under-12 (Girls) will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.25, 000, Rs.20, 000, Rs 15,000, Rs 12,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500, Rs 5000, Rs 4000, Rs 2500 and Rs 1500 respectively.
The routes of race for Sr participants will be from Police Golf Course to Pandach crossing and back, for Jr category under-19 (Male) it will be from Police Golf Course to Nageen Club and back, for Jr. category under-19 (Female), the route of race will be Police Golf Course to Nageen Club and back, for Sub-Jr category under-12 (Boys), it will be from Police Golf Course to Naseem Bagh Crossing and back and for Sub-Jr. category under-12 (Girls), the route will be from Police Golf Course to Naseem Bagh Crossing and back.
