Ajit Singh wins Chess title

JAMMU, Nov 16: Ajit Singh of Udhampur won the Ace Chess Tournament Open A category organized by Ace Chess Academy, while Ravi Sharma of Kathua and defending State champion Sumit Grover had to content with 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
In the open B category, Puneet Choudhary won the first position, while the second and third position went to Ritish Pathania and Maanik Choudhary, while Amit Sharma of Kathua also displayed brilliant chess skills.
In U-13 category, Akashdeep won the first position while second and third position went to Arshdeep Singh and Sanyam Gupta respectively. In U-9 category, Deewang Gupta won the title while Divay Jain and Divyam Gupta won second and third place respectively.
Total 52 players participated in this event.
Dr A S Bhatia, HoD Bio Chemistry, Medical College Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed the prizes among the winners.
Among others present were Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association, Baldev Raj, vice president and Tej Ram Choudhary owner of Ace Chess Academy.
Bindu Pathania FIDE Arbiter was the chief arbiter of this event, while the tournament was played as per FIDE Laws of chess.
