UP’s Himanshu clinches Bamhag Kesari Dangal title

REASI, May 18: The 25th Bamhag Kesari Dangal was organized at Sardabbar Kalsote (Moungri) on the eve of the three-day Moungri Mela with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit. The event was conducted by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association with active support from the J&K Tourism Department, Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd, J&K Police and the Bamhag Dangal Committee.
MLA Udhampur West Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Jogeshwar Gupta attended as guest of honour. The event was also graced by Mela Officer Tehsildar Moungri Arushi Sabarwal, DySP Reeta Devi, Branch Head J&K Bank Moungri Arun Sharma and Rajan Singh Happy, along with other dignitaries.
A total of 42 wrestling bouts were held in which local as well as outstation wrestlers participated. In the main bout, Himanshu Yadav of Banaras (UP) lifted the prestigious 25th Bamhag Kesari title by defeating Nisar of Doda. Himanshu Yadav was awarded Rs 11,000 along with a traditional silver “Gurj” and Patta, while Nisar received Rs 10,000 as runner-up.
In the second main bout, Billu of Roun Domail defeated Amit of Jammu, winning Rs 4,000, while Amit received Rs 3,000. In the third main bout, Mam Hussain defeated Khadappu, earning Rs 3,000, while Khadappu got Rs 2,000.
Other winners included Gopal of Jindrah who defeated Kadar of Udhampur, Salman of Chopra Shop who beat Kaka of RS Pura, Shota Munir who defeated Shota Thappa of Doda, Sunil of Udhampur who beat Dheeraj of RS Pura, Asif of Dansal who defeated Shedi of RS Pura, and Sanjay of Moungri who overcame Buran of Udhampur.
Technical officials included Om Parkash Verma, Lochan Singh, Tulender Kumar and Sunny. The event concluded with appreciation for all participants and organizers for promoting traditional wrestling culture.
