POONCH, May 12: The Zonal Level Inter-School Girls Tournament for Under-14 and Under-17 categories concluded today at Poonch under the aegis of the Department of Youth Services and Sports as per the Annual Activity Calendar 2026-27.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Rupinder Kour, Principal, SSM GHSS Poonch, who encouraged participants to uphold the values of discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
A large number of students from various Government and private schools participated enthusiastically in Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Badminton and Chess competitions. A total of 447 students participated in the Under-14 category, while 164 students took part in the Under-17 category.
In the Under-17 category, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Poonch won Volleyball, Kabaddi and Kho-Kho titles, while Christ High School, Poonch secured Badminton title and Christ Higher Secondary School, Poonch emerged winners in Chess.
In the Under-14 category, Nanak Academy, Poonch won Volleyball, Rani Srimoni GGMS claimed Kabaddi title, Govt Middle School, Kamsar secured Badminton title, Govt Middle School, Ajote won Kho-Kho, while Nanak Academy, Purani Poonch emerged victorious in Chess.
The tournament concluded with prize distribution among winners and outstanding players. The programme also carried the message of promoting the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, sports culture, fitness and unity among students.
The event was organised under the overall supervision of DYSSO Poonch Mohd Qasim and technically supervised by Sarla Rani, Incharge ZPEO Poonch.
