JAMMU, Apr 30: Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu, hosted an enriching literary session with acclaimed author, storyteller and educator Nandini Nayar, celebrating creativity, storytelling and young authorship.
Nayar interacted with students on her book Mules That Fall from the Sky, highlighting the use of animals such as pigeons, dogs, camels, elephants, horses and mules in warfare. She also reflected on the ethical concerns surrounding their use and abandonment, encouraging students to develop empathy and responsibility. Sharing engaging anecdotes, she narrated the unique story of mules parachuted during wartime in Myanmar, which inspired her book.
The guest was given a traditional welcome with a school band performance, ceremonial tilak, and a soulful choir presentation. She was felicitated with a potted plant, memento and a student-made painting.
Principal Ruchi Chabra motivated students to cultivate reading habits and creative expression. An interactive author talk and Q&A session followed, where Nayar appreciated students’ enthusiasm and creativity.
Students also presented a skit based on Apurva’s Fat Diary, featuring Prikshit Sharma, Janvi Singh, Nadia Chaudhary and Abhilasha Rally. The programme included a literary quiz and recognition of young writers Mriganka Sharma, Samanyu Sharma and Parina Kandhari, along with “Fantastic Fourteen” story writing winners.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Meenu Gupta and a book-signing session with the author.
