REASI, Apr 18: Wrestler Nishant of Baba Fly Akhara, Punjab, clinched the title in the 44th International Salora Dangal 2026 by defeating Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of J&K Police, Jammu, in a hard-fought final bout held at Salora in District Jammu.
Nishant, winner of the first mali bout, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 90,000 along with the prestigious Salora Kesari “Patta,” while runner-up Lallu received Rs 60,000. A total of 61 bouts were contested during the one-day dangal.
In the second mali bout, Hamid of Iran defeated Parveen of Delhi to win Rs 60,000, while Parveen received Rs 40,000. In another second mali bout, Uttam Rana of Uttar Pradesh beat Benia Min of J&K Police. Wrestler Irfan of Iran defeated Baba Fareed of Dinanagar, while Haudi of Iran overcame Nadeem of Doda, with winners receiving Rs 60,000 each and runners-up Rs 40,000.
Other bouts saw Billu of Hoshiarpur, Surjit Singh of Reasi, Love Preet of Khanna, Thappa of Doda and Mam Hussain of Domel registering victories. Swarn Singh Rathore was the chief guest, while Shiv Kumar Sharma, presided over the function. Dilwar Singh of Yuva Rajput Sabha and SSP Benam Tosh were the guests of honour.
