Tahan shines at 4th Mount Everest Int’l Taekwondo C’ship

DODA, Feb 21: Ahmed Tahan brought laurels to the nation and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir by winning a silver medal at the prestigious 4th Mount Everest International Taekwondo Championships 2026 held at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu from February 15 to 20.
The championship was organized by the Nepal Taekwondo Association, sanctioned by World Taekwondo and supported by the Asian Taekwondo Union. The international event witnessed participation from multiple countries, reflecting a high standard of competition and sportsmanship.
Ahmed Tahan, a trainee of Shield Taekwondo Academy, Doda (J&K UT), delivered an impressive performance in the Junior Boys U-48 kg category to secure the Silver Medal. He trains under the guidance of Burhan Ud Din Khan (Coach/Referee), whose mentorship continues to shape promising athletes from the region.
Other members of the Indian team included Radha Sharma (Senior Women Under 53 kg), Khadija Ul Qubra (Senior Women Under 46 kg) and Mutaib Masood (Cadet Boys Under 57 kg).
Junaid Ali Khan, President TADD, congratulated the team for representing India with pride. Vinod Kumar, India Team Coach praised the players’ dedication, while Master Atul Pangotra (International Coach/Referee) also extended his congratulations on their commendable performance.
