JAMMU, Jan 8: Best performance by Aquib Nabi and Vandhaj Sharma put J&K to a convincing victory by 3 wickets in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group match at Rajkot today.
Earlier, put into bat, Hyderabad scored 268/9 in the stipulated 50 overs. Aman Rao top scored with 60 runs while Nitesh Reddy contributed unbeaten 54 runs.
Aquib Nabi was the pick of the bowlers for J&K, who took 3 wickets by conceding 56 runs in his 10 overs, while Abid Mushtaq bagged 2 wickets. Vanshaj Sharma, Abid Mushtaq and Yudhvir Singh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, J&K rode on masterclass knocks from Aquib Nabi and Vanshaj Sharma and chased the target in 47.5 overs. Aquib scored 114 off 82 balls, studded with 10 fours and 7 sixes, while Vanshaj Sharma contributed unbeaten 69 runs off 78 balls studded with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
For Hyderabad, Md Siraj and CV Milind claimed 2 wickets each. Aquib Nabi was declared as the Player of the match for his exceptional all-round show.
“Auqib Nabi has proved that champions are made of a different stuff. He was supported by Vanshaj who scored a patient unbeaten half century,” asserted Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA.
