JAMMU, Dec 28: The Martyrs Premier League Season 3 (MPL-3) concluded in Poonch with Star Viper Cricket Club emerging as champions and Smashers Cricket Club finishing as runners-up. The tournament featured 28 teams, reflecting strong youth engagement and growing sports culture in the border district.
The final was graced by Brigadier Sachindra Joshi, Commander 93 Infantry Brigade, as chief guest, along with MLA Ajaz Jan, DDC Riyaaz Naaz, DySP Neeraj Sharma, and Adil Mir as guests of honour. Star Viper posted 239 in 20 overs, anchored by Sohail Qureshi and successfully defended the total to clinch the title.
The opening ceremony included interactions with Brigadier Joshi, the Commanding Officer of 12 Bihar Regiment, and Advocate Zeshan Syed, Chairman of Haq Insaaf Council, a two-minute silence for martyrs, and a pledge against drug abuse. The prize distribution was attended by MLA Ajaz Jan, DDC Riyaaz Naaz, DySP Neeraj Sharma, and Advocate Zeshan Syed.
Organizers from Haq Insaaf Council, including Ikhlaq Mehmood, Danish Pathan, Waseem Qureshi, Kamran Ali, Mohd Mashooq, Yasir Chisty, Rehan Rather, Firdous Mir, Saqib Kirmani, Daman Sharma, Inzimam Ahmed, and Istikhar Ahmed, were acknowledged for their efforts.
