JAMMU, Dec 27: The 29th Jammu & Kashmir UT Billiards and Snooker Championship, being organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at the MA Stadium Billiards Hall, Jammu, under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, witnessed a series of keenly contested matches with impressive performances from top cueists.
In the league and knockout encounters, Wassim Iqbal began strongly, registering a straight-frame win over Abhishek Pathania. Zahoor also advanced with convincing victories, while Younis Kuchay displayed fine form by defeating Amardeep in straight frames.
The competition intensified during the quarterfinal and subsequent rounds. Wassim Iqbal overcame Arjun Singh in a hard-fought three-frame match, while Umar Islam secured a comfortable straight-frame win over Rahil Bhut.
Kamran Majid edged past Rohit Choudhary in a closely contested encounter, and Younis Kuchay continued his dominant run with back-to-back straight-frame victories, including wins over Arjun Singh and later over Wassim Iqbal.
Arjun Singh staged a notable comeback to defeat Zahoor in a three-frame thriller, while Wassim Iqbal later got the better of Zahoor in straight frames. Zahoor, however, bounced back strongly by defeating Younis Kuchay in another closely fought contest. Kamran Majid showcased resilience to overcome Rahil in a three-frame battle, whereas Rohit Choudhary upset Umar Islam after dropping the opening frame.
All matches were efficiently conducted under the supervision of experienced markers Rakesh Sharma, Raveez Ahmed, Ashok Kumar, and Manohar Nath.
