JAMMU, Dec 25: Jammu & Kashmir dominated Sikkim to secure a commanding innings-and-190-runs victory in the U-16 Men’s Vijay Merchant Trophy at CK Pithawala Ground, Surat marking their fourth consecutive innings win. The triumph propels J&K to the top of the points table with 28 points, ahead of Mizoram (18) and Sikkim (14).
Batting first, J&K declared at 405/9 in 85 overs, led by Karman Singh’s brilliant 142 off 258 balls, supported by Hadi Amin (54) and Hammad Firdous (50). Arslan Nayyar added 43 runs to consolidate the total. Sikkim’s first innings ended at 120, with Athrav Sharma dismantling the opposition with sensational 8/24 in 19 overs. Sanil Singh added 2/39.
In the second innings, Sikkim were bowled out for 95, with Rajveer Singh and Sanil Singh taking 3 wickets each, while Harinder Singh and Hammad Firdous picked up 2 apiece. J&K’s clinical performance was lauded by JKCA Member-Administration Brig Anil Gupta, highlighting the brilliance of Karman Singh, Hadi Amin, Hammad Firdous, and Athrav Sharma.
