JAMMU, Nov 21: In a nail-biting finish at Kotambi Stadium B Ground in Vadodara, Jammu & Kashmir scripted a memorable 1-wicket triumph over Jharkhand in the ongoing Under-23 Men’s State-A Trophy, showcasing grit, determination and a spectacular last-wicket partnership.
Chasing a competitive target of 199 runs in 50 overs, J&K lost wickets at regular intervals, leaving the outcome hanging in balance. The match reached its dramatic climax when tailenders Atif Bin Mushtaq (20, 24 balls, 2 sixes)* and Sarvashish Singh (9, 16 balls)* stitched together a resilient 31-run unbeaten stand for the final wicket, steering the team to victory under immense pressure.
Earlier, Rydham anchored the chase with a stylish 55 off 57 balls, hitting 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Arnav Gupta contributed a crucial 38 off 54 balls, matching Rydham’s boundary and six count.
Batting first, Jharkhand posted 198 runs, anchored by Bisesh Dutta’s 61 off 83 balls with 7 boundaries. Satya Seetu (26) and Prabhat Kumar (24) provided valuable support, but J&K bowlers, led by Atif Bin Mushtaq and Asif Muzzafar (3 wickets each) and Sarvashish Singh (1 wicket), kept the total within reach.
