JAMMU, Nov 17: The Jammu District Athletics Championship 2025-26 concluded at the University of Jammu’s Synthetic Athletic Track, organized by Jammu District Athletics Association under the aegis of J&K Amateur Athletics Association and J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu. Around 250 athletes from various schools and institutions competed across U-14, U-16, U-18, U-20 and Open categories for both boys and girls.
In the U-14 category, Zaher Aslam and Nitya Gupta won the 60m sprint, while Aditya Manhas and Aditi Sharma clinched the 600m titles. Shahid Akhter and Mahi Manhas emerged victorious in long jump.
In U-16, Momin Mirza and Aradhya Katoch claimed the 60m sprints, while Shaz Ali and Hansika Jyotshi won the 600m races. Faiez Kirmani and Hansika triumphed in long jump and Zahran Ali Khan and Adeena Batool in shot put.
In U-18, Sidharth Dogra and Manpreet Singh won the 100m, while Wajid Ali took the 400m. Anshman Aryan won the 1000m and Suraj Kumar and Vaibhavi Abrol excelled in long jump.
In U-20, Suraj Kumar and Gulnaz won the 100m, while Varun Sharma and Gulnaz Kour took the 200m. Arun Choudhary claimed the 1500m, and Arjun Singh excelled in shot put and discus throw.
In the Open category, Ravikant Yadav and Rama won 100m sprints, Madhav Sharma and Shamshad Bano triumphed in 400m and Vishal Singh and Shamshad Bano claimed the 1500m/800m titles. Suraj Kumar, Kailash Singh Choudhary, and Kartik Singh Chib dominated jumps and throws.
The valedictory function was graced by international athlete Ravinder Singh, Dr. Surinder Singh Kotwal, Vinod Bhatia and other dignitaries, who felicitated the winners.
