JAMMU, Nov 15: Jammu and Kashmir showcased a dominant all-round performance as they secured a convincing 6-wicket victory over Assam in the U-23 State-A Trophy at the Darshanam Sports and Education Academy ground, Vadodara, today. The win was powered by the continued batting brilliance of Basit Nazir and the astute captaincy of Shivansh Sharma, while the bowlers contributed decisively on a batting-friendly surface.
Chasing a challenging target of 242 runs, J&K built a solid innings through consistent contributions from the top order. Captain Shivansh Sharma led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 75 off 90 balls, including 3 fours and a six. Basit Nazir added 72 runs off 106 balls with 8 boundaries, ensuring stability at the crease. Promising young talent Mousub Mohd Bhat remained unbeaten on 44 off 44 balls, while Arnav Gupta contributed a valuable 38, helping the team reach the target comfortably in 49.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
Assam, put into bat first, posted a competitive 241 runs. Parvez Musharaf top-scored with 93 off 116 balls, supported by Rajveer Singh (46) and Sourav Mohsum (35). J&K bowlers rose to the occasion, with Basit Bashir claiming 3 crucial wickets, Atif Bin Mushtaq and Sarvashish Singh picking up 2 wickets each, while Vishal Kumar, Archit Mahajan and Arya Thakur chipped in with a wicket apiece.
