JAMMU, Nov 10: Left-arm spinner Vanshaj Sharma produced a spellbinding performance, echoing skipper Paras Dogra’s first-innings heroics, as Jammu & Kashmir edged closer to a memorable triumph against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Resuming at 7/0, Delhi managed 277 in their second innings, anchored by Ayush Badoni’s fluent 72 off 73 balls, featuring eight boundaries and a towering six and Ayush Doseja’s composed 62 off 88 balls with three fours and sixes each. Arpit Verma added 43, while Sanat Sangwan and Yash Dhull contributed 34 each. Vanshaj Sharma wreaked havoc with figures of 6/68 in 16.1 overs, ably supported by off-spinner Sahil Lotra (3 wickets) and Abid Mushtaq (1).
Chasing a target of 179, J&K were 55/2 in 15 overs at stumps on Day 3. Qamran Iqbal was unbeaten on 32 off 34 balls, nightwatchman Vanshaj is yet to score. Shubham Khajuria (8) and Vivrant Sharma (3) were dismissed. Delhi bowlers Manan Bharadwaj and Hrithik Shokeen claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, J&K gained a crucial 99-run lead as skipper Paras Dogra scored a commanding 106 and seamer Aquib Nabi took a five-wicket haul to bowl Delhi out for 211 in the first innings. With eight wickets in hand, J&K are poised to chase the remaining 124 runs on Day 4 for a historic victory.
