DIG flags off Special Athletes for National BOCCE C’ship

JAMMU, July 23: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma flagged off a contingent of Special Olympics Bharat-JKUT athletes to participate in the National BOCCE Championship being held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The championship, organized by the Chhattisgarh Chapter of Special Olympics Bharat, aims to shortlist athletes for upcoming international events.
In his address, DIG Sharma congratulated the athletes and encouraged them to bring laurels to the region. He also praised Dr. Ashwani Jojra, Founding President and Area Director of Special Olympics Bharat JKUT, for his decades-long voluntary service in empowering persons with intellectual disabilities through sports.
Dr. Jojra highlighted the significance of the movement and appealed to society to make it a mass mission to reach the unreached. He also acknowledged the support of national leaders Dr. Malika Nadda (President) and Dr. D. G. Choudhary (General Secretary) of Special Olympics Bharat.
The contingent includes athletes Raghudeep Singh, Rakesh Kumar Choudhary, Krish Mehra, Anand Bhagat and Sahil Kaith, accompanied by Sunny Nanda (Senior Coach), Rashpal (Coach) and Sahil Badyal (Program Manager).
Also present were Irshad Rather (SP HQs), Thakur Jagdev Singh, Pooja Malhotra (Sr. Vice President, Sahyog India), Dr. Ajay Kumar, Tanveer Hussain, Ish Mahajan, Gaurav Bhasin, Jagbir Singh Chib, Sudershan Singh Chib, Mona Abrol, Kritika Sharma, Vimal Manchanda, Rajeev Tomar, Dr. Avneet Singh Soodan, Kunal Gupta, Gourav Kumar, Adhaar Gupta, Capt. Bhagwan Singh and Hari Vishwas (SOB Volunteer), who all extended best wishes to the contingent.
