JAMMU, July 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu, commenced the Inter-School District Level Selection Trials and Competitions for All Age Groups (AAG) in various sports disciplines at MA Stadium Jammu. The multi-sport event includes competitions in boxing, fencing, judo, roller skating, karate, weightlifting and wushu for both boys and girls.
Organized under the patronage of Anuradha Gupta, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, J&K UT, and the chairmanship of Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports Jammu, the tournament is being overseen by Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu, as the organizing secretary. During the inaugural ceremony held at University Ground Jammu, DYSSO Sharma encouraged the young participants to give their best and seize the opportunity to qualify for the upcoming Inter-District Division Level competitions. She also appreciated the efforts of conveners and officials in identifying talented student-athletes across disciplines.
In boxing, standout performances were recorded across various weight categories. Winners include Anmol (25-30 kg), Keshav Sharma (30-32 kg), Rajveer Chib (32-34 kg), Varun Chaudhary (34-38 kg), Aham Kumar (36-38 kg), Arun Sehgotra (38-40 kg) and Mohd. Zayan (40-42 kg). Other top performers included Jatin (42-44 kg), Dhruv Pal (44-46 kg), Arav Sharma (46-48 kg), and Sarav Ali Khan (48-50 kg). Runners-up in their respective categories included Anirudh, Soul, Aditya, Yuvraj Singh, Summer Partap, Partap Singh and Vihan Gupta.
