Chandigarh, July 15: At just 15, Chandigarh’s rising tennis star Ribhav Saroha has scripted history by becoming the All India No. 1 in the Under-16 category.
This achievement marks a significant milestone, as Ribhav is the first player born and trained entirely in Chandigarh to claim the top spot in the national rankings.
Under the expert mentorship of Marco Seruca, a former Portuguese Davis Cup player and a seasoned international coach at MS Star Tennis Academy, Ribhav is steadily emerging as a name to watch on India’s tennis map. Training nearly five hours a day, his commitment to the game is unwavering.
“Some days, I train for three hours in the morning and two in the evening; other times, it’s a continuous five-hour session. It all depends on the schedule Marco sir plans for me,” says Ribhav.
Marco, an ITF-certified coach with decades of global experience, has been working closely with Ribhav for several years. His approach focuses on all aspects of a player’s development – from technique and fitness to mental toughness and strategic tournament play.
“He’s the kid who’s been with us the longest,” Marco shared. “With continued hard work and the right opportunities, I genuinely believe Ribhav can emerge as one of the best players from India.”
Ribhav credits his progress to the European-style training model adopted by Marco.
“I’m really happy I found Marco sir. I’ve seen significant improvement under this training pattern.
I hope to maintain this form and make a smooth transition into the men’s circuit soon,” he said.
Behind every young athlete is a family that forms the backbone of their journey. Ribhav’s parents – Nagender Saroha and Dr Saroj Saroha – have been unwavering in their support. (UNI)
