JAMMU, June 20: The traditional Salana Chhinj (Annual Dangal) was celebrated with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour at the sacred shrine of Baba Hara Peer Sahib in Sae, Suchetgarh constituency. This cultural event, which dates back to 1965, attracted thousands of devotees and wrestling enthusiasts from across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Delhi and Haryana.
Devotees took a holy dip in the shrine’s sacred water, believed to have healing properties. Wrestlers showcased exceptional skills in traditional kushti, encouraging physical fitness and cultural pride.
Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh Member Taranjit Singh Tony was the chief guest. He commended the organizing committee for preserving the legacy of Baba Hara Peer and urged youth to avoid drug abuse and embrace sports, education and community service.
SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh and SHO Arnia Dillawar Singh attended as guests of honour. The event was smoothly managed by Pappa Contractor, Balbir Singh Nagra, and Banki Lambardar. Prominent attendees included Capt Ghar Singh, Narinder Sharma, Ch. Sham Lal, Master Pappu, Ajeet Singh, Sheery Panch, Sham Lal Pala, Sarmandeep Sonu, Ch. Ram Saran (Ex-President), Mandeep Singh (Youth Leader), Lambardar Meeta, Bittu Thekedar, Suchchain Choudhary, and Pamma Pahalwan. The event concluded with prize distribution and a collective prayer for peace and communal harmony.
