National Medallists Shanaz, Sonam felicitated in Kargil

KARGIL, May 8: Taekwondo athletes Shanaz Parveen and Sonam Chosphal, who recently won gold medals at Federation Cup Taekwondo National Championship in Nasik, Maharashtra were felicitated in Kargil. They were accompanied by their coach Zaheer Abass Khan.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse, presented them with traditional Khataks and praised their dedication. He also discussed their training needs and assured prompt consideration of their request for land allotment for a dedicated Taekwondo training hall. Additional Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Ahmed Kacho was also present.
The athletes also met Acting CEC LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Feroz, who felicitated them and expressed LAHDC’s commitment to funding support for athletes. He was joined by Councillor Bhimbhat and Abdul Wahid, President of the Contractor Association.
Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, also felicitated the medalists and discussed long-term development plans for athletes. The players were further honoured by Superintendent of Police Kargil, Raam R.
Both athletes credited their success to international-level coach Master Atul Pangotra and expressed heartfelt thanks to CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, MP Haji Hanifa Jan, and district officials for their continuous support and encouragement.
