JAMMU, Apr 21: A seven days NSS Camp was started by NSS Units of Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu today, marked by vibrant enthusiasm and dedicated participation of NSS volunteers and faculty.
The camp will feature a series of week-long activities, including visits to adopted villages, cleanliness drives, awareness sessions, and skill-based training programs aimed at personality development and community service.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the college auditorium with Principal Dr. Rajinder Singh as the chief guest and Dr. Himani Bhutyal from the Department of AYUSH as the Resource Person. The program began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the singing of the NSS Song. This was followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, Programme Officer, NSS.
Both NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Deepshikha Sharma and Dr. Deepak Pathania, played a pivotal role in meticulously planning, coordinating, and organizing the entire inaugural event.
Principal Dr. Rajinder Singh, in his address, emphasized the significance of mental health and highlighted the core values of NSS—selfless service, leadership, and discipline. He urged students to actively involve themselves in the upcoming activities and make the most of this enriching experience.
An elegant performance of Saraswati Vandana by NSS volunteer Tanishka Mehra added a graceful cultural element to the ceremony.
The Resource Person, Dr. Himani Bhutyal, delivered an enlightening session on Mental Health and Stress Management through Ayurvedic Practices. She shared valuable insights on managing academic pressure and taught practical stress-relief techniques. Accompanying her were two yoga instructors Sheetal Khajuria and Jyoti Bali who conducted a yoga demonstration session for the volunteers, focusing on physical wellness and inner peace.
The event witnessed the presence of NSS Advisory Committee: Dr. Reena Rani, Dr. Mohd Azam, Dr. Chetna Gupta, Prof. Shaji Khan, Prof. Sanjeev Verma.
Faculty members Prof. Rekha Gupta, Prof. Ashwani, and Prof. Binny Kumar were also present whose presence added value and encouragement to the occasion.
