JAMMU, Feb 13: The Jammu and Kashmir fencing team has achieved a historic milestone by winning five medals at the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand. With two silver and three bronze medals, this marks the best-ever performance for the J&K team at the national level under the J&K Fencing Association (JKFA).
The individual performances were exceptional, with Sufiyan Waheed winning a silver in the Epee Individuals event, and Vishal Thapar securing a bronze in the Men’s Sabre category. The Epee team, including Sufiyan Waheed, Ajay Kumar, Sohit Thakur and Shivansh Kapoor bagged a silver medal.
The Sabre Girls team comprising Shreya Gupta, Rishika Khajuria, Kirthirthi Kotwal and Chavi Sharma won a bronze, as did the Men’s Sabre team, which included Vishal Thapar, Sagar Sahi, Udaveer Singh Chandel and Suryansh Sharma.
The remarkable achievement was made possible through the dedication and hard work of the entire team, supported by their coaches Shotu Lal Sharma, Rachna Jamwal and Maninder Pal Singh, along with Senior Fencer Adarsh Salathia, the Manager of the J&K Fencing team.
