JAMMU, Apr 16: 2-day Inter-College Abhishek Memorial Annual Sports Meet, organized by Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions, Gurah Brahmana, Patoli, got underway at YCET Sports Ground, here today.
The event started with a National Anthem, which was followed by a Flag March by the students of various sports events with great zeal.
A group of 278 students from different streams of Colleges of Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions including Tawi Engineering, Tawi Polytechnic Pathankot, Yoganda College of Engineering and Technology, Institute of Management Sciences, National College of Education, Institute of Engineering and Computer Sciences and North Polytechnic Jammu participated in cricket, volleyball, badminton, kho-kho, chess, carom, athletics, kabaddi, rangoli and tug of war.
Secretary Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Pervaiz Ahmed Malik was the chief guest on the occasion.
The chief guest and other dignitaries lit the traditional lamp to declare the Meet open.
Earlier, Er Vidhi S Singh, Chairman, presented welcome address.
In his address, the chief guest lauded the efforts of the organizers in holding this mega event smoothly and successfully.
Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu was the special guest on the occasion, who advised the students to be competitive in every field of life.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were N H Malik, Mohd Shafi Bhat, Er Jeetander Kesar, Er Neetu Maini, Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal and Er Renu Bangroo.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof J R Dhotra, Prof B L Sharma, Prof K G Gupta, Prof K R Sharma, Er B R Verma, Er C L Bangroo, Er Ajay Singh Jamwal, Prof B R Moza and Col Hari Singh.
The programme was organized by Er Rajnish Magotra and Er Dinesh Gupta.
