JAMMU, May 27: More than 1100 athletes demonstrated their skills in tug-of-war and athletics in men and women open categories under ‘My Youth My Pride’ event organized in Government Higher Secondary School, Sohal (Akhnoor).
Vice Principal of the School, Dilnawaz Khan was the chief guest on the occasion while Ashok Kumar, Zonal Education Physical Officer was the guest of honour.
In Junior Boys U-14 (100 m), Nitish Kumar stood first, Avinash Kumar 2nd and Anil Kumar 3rd. In Senior Boys U-17 (200 m), Rahul Singh emerged 1st, Vikas Singh 2nd and Vishav Pratap Singh 3rd while in Girls U-14 (400 m), Sheha Devi stood 1st, Jyoti Devi 2nd and Sonali Bhagat 3rd. In Girls U-17 (800 m), Nancy Devi won first position, Sumana Devi 2nd and Siya Devi 3rd whereas in Junior Girls U-14 (800 m), Jasmeet Kour emerged 1st, Roshini 2nd and Vaneet Kour 3rd.
In Girls U-17 (400 m), Neeti Devi secured 1st position, Priya Devi 2nd and Sakshi Devi 3rd while in Sub Junior Boys U-14 (400 m), Avinash Kumar stood 1st, Shubham Kumar 2nd and Anil Kumar 3rd. In Mixed Sub Junior U-10 (100 m), Seema emerged 1st, Vansh 2nd and Anjali 3rd. In Junior Girls U-14 (200 m), Jasmeet Kour stood 1sr, Roshini 2nd and Vaneet Kour 3rd whereas in Senior Boys U-19 (1500 m), Arun Sharma got 1st position, Manmeet Singh 2nd and Nitish Verma 3rd.
Jammu District Powerlifting Championship was also organized in Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar (Jammu).
Meanwhile, Khelo India Hockey centre Kupwara organized a hockey event in the district.
