JAMMU, Sept 26: After the hiatus of 2 years, the 53rd Round Square International Conference 2022 (RSIC-22) was held at the Oxford University England.
It was one of the largest Conferences with more than 1500 delegates from all over the world gathering on the haloed premises of Oxford.
Arti Chowdhary, Managing Director of KCPS, Ambedkar Gupta as adult delegate and Samyagya Chopra of Class XII as student delegate, represented KC Public School, at this mammoth gathering.
During their time in Oxford, students heard from world renowned keynote speakers on topics relating to the conference theme ‘Take Less, Be More’ that led them into barazza discussions in groups of mixed nationality to build international understanding and a spirit of cooperation. The keynote address on, ‘Sustainable Economy’ by Dieter Helm, Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Economics at New College Oxford was very well-received. The barazza discussions by student delegates, cultural programmes by participating schools, treasure hunts and various other creative and theatrical activities including a literary adventure-race and Ceilidh folk dancing enlivened the spirit of camaraderie.
The delegation stayed at Keble College, one of the biggest colleges at the University of Oxford established in 1870.
During the 2nd half of the conference, KC Public School delegates moved to Ryde School with Upper Chine on the Isle of Wight South of mainland England and took part in adventure and sight-seeing trips and hikes to the historic Osborne House, and several coastal sites such as the Needles, Freshwater Bay and iconic Alum Bay where they enjoyed water-sports activities that included rafting, Kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing.
The CEO of Round Square, Rachael Westgarth and other team members were appreciative of work done by KCeans and for having imbibed the true spirit of Round Square ideals of adventure, environmentalism, leadership and service. She was all praise for the Podcast address by Managing Director Arti Chowdhary on the theme, ‘Fostering Youth Leaders for a Happy World.’
The conference offered KCPS delegates the opportunity to experience internationalism and diversity, gain deeper insight into global issues of environment and energy and fasten bonds of friendship with peers from all over the world.
