JAMMU, May 2: Continuing its supremacy at the National scene, the Jammu and Kashmir handball players excelled once again and clinched bronze medal in the 17th Inter-Zonal National Handball Championship held at Bhilai in Madhya Pradesh, recently.
It may be recalled that it is for the fourth time that J&K has remained in the medal tally in this Championship.
In the match for the third place, Jammu and Kashmir defeated Delhi in a tough contest by a narrow margin of one goal by (25-24) and got the bronze medal. For J&K, Harmeek Singh, Sahil Padha, Sahil Bharat and the goalkeepers Pankaj Mehra and Amandeep performed well and helped their team to clinch a thrilling win.
According to Ashwani Raina, general secretary J&K Handball Association and Kuldip Singh, chairman, who accompanied the team, the handballers from J&K showed superb grit and guts during the entire tournament.
The match among others was witnessed by Dr SM Bali, president J&K Handball Association and Secretary General of Handball Federation of India.
