SAMBA, Oct 25: In continuation to Sports Festival and Flag Day programmes, the District police organized ‘Run for Unity’ in loving memory of police martyrs, here today.
The event was flagged off by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajesh Sharma from Govt. Degree College Samba which was culminated at District Police Line by covering about three kilometres distance.
The event was divided into four categories including Men below 25 years, Men between 25-35 years, Girls and Police personnel.
In Men category below 25 yrs, Bikram Singh, Rahul Singh and Liyaquat Ali were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 2000, Rs 1000 and 1000 respectively for their outstanding performances.
In Men category between 25-35 yrs, Rahul Singh and Vir Partap Singh were awarded with Rs 2000 and Rs1500 cash prizes whereas Babi Gill, Preeti Gill, Shivani Slathia and Kashish Slathia were awarded with cash prize of Rs 2000, Rs 1500, Rs 1000 and Rs 1000 for their outstanding performance in Girls category.
SSP Samba urged the sportspersons to inculcate their energies in right directions and contribute in nation building .It was also reiterated that District Police Samba will try to provide platform to youth of district in all major Sports.
Meanwhile, District Police Doda also held ‘Run of Unity’ under age group 20 years in memory of police martyrs who laid down their live to uphold integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
The event started from District Police Lines Doda and culminated at Ganpat Crossing Pul Doda.
Mohd Younis of 12th class bagged 1st position while Mohd Kaif of 8th class student secured 2nd position and 3rd position was bagged by Shiv Kumar of 12th class student.
The participants were awarded with appreciation certificates and cash prizes.
Master Popsy, Addl. SP Hqrs Doda, P N Tikoo, Dy Commandant IR 5th Bn, Mohd Ayaz Mughal District Education Planning Officer, Neelam Kant Dy Commandant SSB, Jagdish Raj, Dy. Commandant CRPF and many others also graced the event.
