7th National Heritage Trek Expedition participants leave for Pancheri

UDHAMPUR, May 31: The 10th batch of 26 trekkers participating in the 7th National Heritage Trek Expedition left for trekking to Pancheri from Udhampur base camp. The trekking was organized by Youth Hostels Association of India, J&K in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur.
The batch includes 11 females from different parts of country mostly hailing from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. The batch also included some of the most traveled and experienced trekkers of the country of varied age groups from 18 years to 50 years of age.
The trek will cover the areas with Udhampur as the Base Camp, Krimchi temples of heritage importance. First night halt at Pancheri Forests with rich flora and fauna on way to 2nd night halt at Lander and 3rd night at Sanasar. Passing through Natha Top with barren hills and high velocity winds giving a varied experience to the trekkers, 5th night at the world famous tourist resort of Patnitop in thick Deodar forest, 6th night halt at Mantalai where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parwati were married via Gauri Kund where Goddess Parwati used to worship Lord Shiva and Sudh Mahadev where the lord Shiva killed the Demon who was chasing Goddess Parwati.
On 7th day, the trekkers will be brought back to base camp Udhampur and disperse after evaluation and certificates distribution.
These programmes used to be very educative with knowledge about the heritage of the State at Krimchi temples by the experts of Archeological Survey of India, about the Wildlife by the experts of the Wildlife Department at Pancheri, about the flora and fauna and the medicinal plants, herbs and shrubs available in the locality.
