7000 students in fray for medals in School Olympics

JAMMU, Sept 17: A total of 7000 students of different Government and private schools are in fray for 50 medals in the School Olympics, being organized by District Administration in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sports.
The number of boys participating in the seven day long event, which is likely to be held in the third week of October, is 4500, while the participating girls would be 2550. 2651 students will compete in field and track events of Athletics, 515 students will compete in Badminton and remaining 4000 will compete in different games including Basketball, Kabaddi, Football, Hockey and Volleyball.
As many as 151 schools are going to compete in this mega sporting fest at the district level, out of which one school will be declared champion in boys and girls categories.
This is for the first time that both CBSE and State Board schools will compete in a single tournament.
