JAMMU, Nov 19: The 5-day 60th National School Games (NSG) in the sports discipline of Badminton, Boys and Girls Under-14 years is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) from 21 to 25 November, 2014, here.
This was informed by Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal, who is also Chairman of the organizing committee of 60th National School Games, during a Press Conference here today.
He said as many as 60 teams 30 each for Boys and Girls from various States including Union Territories comprising 145 players in boys section and 146 from girls section from across the country are expected to take part in the competition.
He said teams from Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Vidya Bharathi, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Haryana, Gujarat, Manipur, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, JNVS, Telangana, Uttarakhand and West Bengal will be participating in the event.The Director General also said that the department of YSS has already constituted different committees for smooth and successful conduct of the event.
The matches will be played at Indoor Complex, University of Jammu and Indoor Complex District Police Lines Jammu.
He said for convenience for incoming participants a control room has been established at Deputy Directorate of Youth Services and Sports office complex Gandhi Nagar Jammu with boarding& lodging facilities been made in Youth Hostel Nagrota.
He further said that fixtures in both boys and girls section shall be issued by Technical Committee of School Games Federation of India.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Organizing Secretary 60th National School Games, Haji Mirza, Deputy Director YSS, (Member Organizing Committee), Kanchan Bala, Convener Finance Committee and A R Shigan, besides senior officers of YSS and SGFI were also present.
