SRINAGAR, May 30: The opening ceremony of the Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) will be held on June 6, 2015.
This was stated by Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar at a press conference held at Lalit Grand palace here today.
The DGP said that the objective of the Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) is to promote sports culture in the State and to provide platform to cricketers to hone their skills and to help the cricketers to feel the aroma of IPL at Srinagar.
Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium and Kashmir University Cricket ground will be the venues for the Police Public Premier League.
On the opening of the PPCPL and for the attraction to the public, the entertainment programmes like Laser show, Acrobatic dance, Fire dance, Speed painting are being organized.
The DGP informed that 556 State cricketers will include National cricketers, cricketers of Colleges, Universities and Local players from all Districts of the State, who have enrolled themselves for auction and participation. All enrolled players will be placed for auction which will be held on June 1, 2015 at SKICC.
Team owners have already furnished the list of 8 key players and they will have to purchase 8 players from the auction, the DGP informed.
Rajendra also stated that third umpire for run-outs, no-ball decisions and On line sports portal will be made available wherein live scores and match details will be disseminated.
Giving details of the auction, Mr Rajendra said that, the team owners will purchase the players from the enrolled cricketers, adding the base price for current and former Ranji Trophy players is Rs. 5000 and maximum up to Rs 20,000, while the base price for current and former U-19/23 is Rs. 3000/- and maximum up to Rs. 10,000 and the base price for college/local player is Rs. 1000 and maximum upto Rs. 10,000.
