53 State athletes honoured for winning medals, certificates in Taekwondo C’ships

JAMMU, June 12: Fifty three athletes were honoured for winning national medals and certificates in Taekwondo Championships.
The medallists were honoured in a function organized by Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association, here.
Senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi, who was chief guest on the occasion felicitated the young sportspersons and congratulated the association for promoting the sports in the state. BJP Leader Pardeep Sharma was guest of honour on the occasion.
“We are proud of our young athletes who have proven their worth at different International and National level events and all out support would be provided to those youngsters who are pursuing sports professionally”, he added.
He appreciated the achievements made by Atul Pangotra, a State awarded NIS coach and an international Taekwondo Master. Atul is playing key role in organising camps and events for promoting Taekwondo and training young people particularly women for self defence, he stated.
On the occasion Gulshan Mahajan was also honoured for his social activities.
The organisers informed that special camps are being organised across the State and international level trainers would coach the students in techniques of Taekwondo.
He said that State and Central Governments are promoting sports and all out efforts are being made to provide adequate sports infrastructure at school level also.
Among others present were President, Jammu Kashmir Taekwondo Association PC Sharma, Secretary DN Pangotra and Organising Secretary Arun Sharma.
