4th Edition of GD MUN-2024 begins

JAMMU, May 3: GD Goenka Public School, Jammu hosted the grand opening ceremony of the 4th edition of the GD Model United Nations (GD MUN) 2024, igniting the spirit of diplomacy and discourse among young minds. The event marked the beginning of three days filled with ‘Dialogue over Discord’, vibrant debates and diplomatic exchanges.
Dr Piyush Singla, Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department was the Chief Guest. Chairman Rahul Bansal, Director Sanya Bansal, Varsha Bansal from the management and Principal Arindam Roy Choudhary were among dignitaries present on the occasion.
The Dean of Academics Susmita Roy Choudhury, Coordinators from all wings, Secretary-General Mahir Mahajan and other members of the Secretariat were also present. The ceremony commenced with the symbolic lighting of the lamp, followed by a captivating Ganesh Vandana dance performance, adding a pious beginning to the occasion.
Dr Piyush Singla delivered an inspiring address emphasising the significance of diplomacy and meaningful dialogue in addressing global challenges. Acknowledging the plethora of events and issues unfolding globally, Dr Singla highlighted the importance of engaging with these topics, asserting that speaking about them is indeed a significant endeavour. The Chief Guest also presented gavels to the Secretary-General and Executive Board Members, underscoring their dedication to impartiality and excellence in guiding the committees.
Delegates were introduced to various panels, including the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations Human Rights Council, and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The Secretariat received well-deserved accolades for their tireless efforts in organising the event, crucial to its success.
