JAMMU, Nov 11: The 4th edition of Shakuntala Rani Memorial Inter-School Basketball Tournament for boys and girls started at the sports complex of KC Public School this morning.
Eight teams in the boys category and six teams in the girl’s category are taking part in the tournament sponsored by the management of KC Public School to bring CBSE affiliated schools of Jammu together for a healthy sporting contest under the aegis of the Sahodaya complex.
The formal inauguration of the tournament took place in the morning with Amarendra Mishra, Principal of KCPS, welcoming the participating teams and wishing them luck in the tournament spread over a period of 10 days. The final of the tournament are scheduled to be held on November 19.
In the first day’s matches played on the courts of the school, hosts KC Public School routed Banyan International School 39-10 in a somewhat one-sided match. In the second scheduled match for boys Jodhamal Public School and Stephens International School, JPS did not turn up for the match and thus offered a bye to SIS.
In the girl’s category,  the first match between Jodhamal Public School and Delhi Public School also turned out to be a one-sided affair with JPS girls carrying the day with score of 22-02.
The second match in the girls’ category between JK Public School and Army Public School, Akhnoor turned out to be quite exicting which APS, Akhnoor finally won with a score of 26-12.
